The Jaguar's Children

Within the fight for a better life, the Mexican people suffer, and remain oppressed despite their efforts to escape. In The Jaguar’s Children the reader hears a one-sided story from a Mexican man named Hector Maria de la Soledad Lazaro Gonzalez who is stuck in a water truck awaiting his fate. As the story is told, the reader becomes engulfed in the life of a man trying to defy the odds of their economic position. Hector enters the water truck in hopes of finding a new and better life outside of Mexico. He leaves his family, friends, and heritage behind so he might supply a better life for his family in the future. Paying to be smuggled across the border, Hector and his friend Caesar, along with many other Mexican people, filled the tank of a water truck in order to go to America. Unfortunately, the illegal immigrants were left in the middle of nowhere by their coyotes, the men who smuggle people across the broader, to fend for themselves.

Be prepared to see yourself in a different light, and to make changes in your heart.
